Security in the Web 2.0 World Panel:

Ubiquitous access to the Net from anywhere, constant communication through email and instant messaging, and participation in diverse communities through blogs and wikis has completely changed the dynamic of the Internet in the last few years. Along with this change, the threat landscape has become far more complex with dynamic worldwide botnets, sharp rises in identity theft and online fraud, and the ease with which sensitive information can leak out of an organization today. Add to this the constant pressures of increasing IT efficiency and giving users more flexibility and control. Clearly, this Web 2.0 world demands a new look at how we secure our enterprises -- be they high assurance networks, or smaller enterprises.

Join this distinguished panel of experts with John McNulty, Chairman and CEO fo Secure Computing, Gary Hodge, CTO of US Bancorp, Scott Messina head of security services at ESPN and Garry Dobbins, director of Information Security at the University of Notre Dame as they look at the security issues facing CIOs in today's Web 2.0 world. Not only will they look at the new threat landscape they face, but also policy issues, customer demands, business needs, and the tradeoffs necessary when blending all these together. See how the leading information architects from these diverse enterprises are approaching the problems and finding solutions that work for their businesses.

Software development has come a long way from the days of punch cards. We no longer have to reserve time in a room full of massive computers storing information on tape to do programming. Today software development is done around the world on computers that fit in a briefcase. The prevalence and advances in technologies such as the internet and telecommunications now easily allow a piece of code to be developed in one part of the world, tested in another, installed somewhere else and then monitored and maintained from a fourth location. However, the current ability of the industry to consistently deliver software projects to standards that customers are expecting is seriously lacking. According to one study, only 37% of businesses feel that their IT service providers deliver projects on time and only 42% feel their providers deliver at an acceptable quality level. The cost of rework for these failed projects can significantly exceed the original estimate. Clearly something is wrong.

Join Surya Kant, President of Tata Consultancy Services’ North America operations, for a revealing discussion on the current state of the software delivery industry, how TCS is addressing these issues and what the next generation of software delivery will look like.
