Speaker - Thornton May [ Presentation], Futurist, Executive Director, IT Leadership Academy Thornton May is the Futurist, Executive Director and Dean of the IT Leadership Academy, a center focused on educating and assisting multiple generations of IT leaders. He is to CIOs what Jane Goodall was to large apes - friend, advocate and insightful observer. As a trusted advisor, he works to help Chief Information Officers understand the rules, roles and 'wrongs' of the increasingly complex post-digital economy. Working with colleagues at UCLA, UC-Berkeley, Arizona State, The Ohio State University and Florida Community College of Jacksonville [63,000 students] Thornton has been party to the heavy lifting associated with crafting the most innovative, make-dreams-come-true and operationally relevant 'curriculum' for technology management now available [e.g., what needs to be known/what lessons need to be learned/what behaviors need to be 'exfoliated']. His research at the Nolan Norton Institute, the Management Lab at Cambridge Technology Partners and Toffler Associates codified the career rules-of-engagement for the contemporary CIO. His presentations are among the most humorous and highest impact in the industry. Thornton is a knowledge nomad in perpetual motion spending time with 'persons of interest' performing 'acts of significance'. Thornton lives in Maine with his wife of 23 years and a high-attitude Norfolk Terrier named Jackson. He can be reached at tamay@fccj.edu.
